Recognized in Berlin
The IFA Innovation Awards are judged by an independent jury across thirteen categories, from Smart Home through Sustainability, and they are one of the few awards in this industry decided by people who spend the year looking at appliances rather than at marketing.
Best in Home Appliances is the category the R2 Pro was entered into, and the one it came out of with an Honoree listing. It is the category where washing machines, ovens, vacuums and everything else that does actual work in a home go head to head.
The list it landed on
The other names recognized in Best in Home Appliances this year: the Siemens Intelligent Oven Matt Edition. The Xiaomi Mijia Heat Pump Washer Dryer Pro. The Dreame H50 SelfClean Humidifier. The UWANT SwiftVac V700 Pro. The iRobot Roomba Max 875 Combo Robot.
Siemens has been building appliances since the eighteen hundreds. iRobot created the robot vacuum category outright. Xiaomi ships more connected devices in a quarter than most companies do in a decade.
The R2 Pro is a first product from a company most people had not heard of two years ago, and it has not shipped to a customer yet. Standing on that list is the part we are proud of.
It also happened in front of the right audience. IFA is where the European appliance trade goes to see what is coming next, and where the buyers who decide what ends up in stores actually spend their week.
What the jury was looking at
Robot floor care has had the same hole in it since the first robot vacuum shipped. Vacuums lift loose soil off the top of the pile. Robot mops do hard floors and politely raise their pads over rugs. Neither one washes carpet.
Which means the deep clean, the one that gets at what has worked its way down into the fibers over a year, still involves renting a machine, booking a service, or wrestling a heavy upright out of a closet.
The R2 Pro closes that gap. It washes carpet with hot water and dries it on the same pass, then takes a different module for hard floors. Not a better robot vacuum. A machine that does the job people currently rent equipment for, on a schedule, without anyone being home.

Four numbers worth knowing
- 115AW extraction. That is the same air watt rating as a Dyson V8, a vacuum you push around yourself. Most robot vacuums never publish an air watt figure at all. Robotin publishes the number full-size vacuums are judged on, because there is one worth publishing.
- 140°F wash water at the brushes, with 110°F air drying the fibers behind it. The carpet is damp for minutes, not for the rest of the evening.
- Up to 400 sq ft an hour. A normal living room is one unattended run.
- The Intelligent Dirt Detection System. Sensors in the base station read how much soil is in the dirty water the robot brings back. If a patch still reads dirty, it goes over that patch again. It keeps working until the water runs clean, which is exactly what a professional does by eye.
Add LiDAR navigation and a sensor that knows when carpet is still wet, and the machine can be trusted to work a room out on its own.
One chassis, two jobs
The R2 Pro is modular. The Carpet Wash & Dry Module handles carpet and rugs. The Vacuum & Mop Module handles hard floors. They share a chassis and a base station, so the whole house is one machine rather than two appliances competing for the same closet.
The base station takes the dirty water out of the robot and refills the clean tank, so a full clean does not turn into a series of trips to the sink. And because the platform is built to take further modules, the machine you buy is not the last thing it will be able to do.
