Privacy policy
Last updated: August 29, 2025
Robotin (“Robotin,” “we,” “us,” “our”) operates this website and related services (the “Services”). Our store is hosted by Shopify, and our initial sales will launch via Kickstarter. This Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit our site, sign up for updates, interact with us, or back us on Kickstarter.
If this Policy conflicts with our Terms of Service, this Policy controls for privacy matters.
1) Who we are & scope
-
Controller: Robotin is the data controller for personal information collected through our website, email sign-ups, and support interactions.
-
Processors/Platforms: We use service providers (including Shopify for hosting and store features). During our Kickstarter launch, payments are handled by Kickstarter and its payment partners (e.g., Stripe); Robotin does not store your payment card details. ShopifyKickstarter+1
2) What we collect
Information depends on your interaction with us and local law:
-
Identifiers & contact details: name, email, phone, shipping/billing address.
-
Account & communications: your messages to us, preferences, and support history.
-
Browsing & device data: IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, cookies or similar tech (see Cookies below).
-
Transactional context: products viewed, wishlists, pre-orders or pledges information we receive to fulfill rewards, and delivery details.
-
Payment details:
-
Website/Kickstarter: Payment information is collected and processed by Kickstarter/Stripe and is governed by their privacy policies; Robotin doesn’t store full card numbers. Kickstarter+1
-
We may create inferences (e.g., preferences) from the above to improve the Services.
3) Sources of information
-
Directly from you: newsletter sign-ups, forms, support messages.
-
Automatically: via our site and Shopify tools (cookies, pixels, logs).
-
Service providers & platforms: Shopify (store/hosting), email tools, analytics.
-
Kickstarter: pledge and fulfillment info shared with us to deliver rewards. Shopify
4) How we use information
-
Provide & improve the Services: run the website, host the store, process inquiries, fulfill rewards, arrange shipping, prevent fraud, and personalize your experience. Shopify
-
Updates & marketing: By providing your email address, phone number, or other contact information, you consent to receive promotional communications from Robotin, including emails, text messages, and phone calls about our products, services, launch news, offers, and updates.
You can opt out of receiving these communications at any time:
-
For emails: use the unsubscribe link included in every promotional email.
-
For text messages or phone calls: follow the instructions provided in the message or contact us at contact@robotin.com.
Even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you transactional messages, such as order confirmations, shipping notifications, and important account-related updates.
We take your communication preferences seriously and will ensure that your contact information is used only for the purposes you have consented to.
-
-
Security & fraud prevention: detect, investigate, and prevent security incidents or abuse.
-
Legal compliance: comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce terms.
-
Personalized ads (limited & consent-based where required): We may use Shopify tools and/or advertising partners to measure performance or show relevant content. Where the law requires consent (e.g., EU/UK), we will ask first; in California and similar jurisdictions, you can opt out of “sale”/“sharing”/targeted ads (see Your Rights). Shopify
5) Legal bases (EEA/UK only)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
-
Contract (e.g., delivering rewards, support);
-
Legitimate interests (e.g., site security, product improvement, limited direct marketing);
-
Consent (e.g., non-essential cookies/marketing where required);
-
Legal obligation (e.g., tax, accounting).
6) Cookies, pixels & consent
We (and Shopify) use cookies and similar technologies to run the site, remember preferences, measure performance, and (where allowed) support advertising/retargeting.
-
Consent where required: In the EU/UK and other regions that require it, we’ll display a cookie banner to obtain consent for non-essential cookies. If you decline, those cookies won’t be used. Shopify Help Center
-
Managing preferences: Use the cookie banner or your browser settings to control cookies.
7) “Do Not Sell or Share” / Global Privacy Control (US)
Some US state laws (e.g., California CPRA) give you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required—if your browser sends a GPC opt-out, we treat it as a valid opt-out for that browser/device (and your account when determinable). You can also use our site controls to opt out. California DOJ+1
8) How we share information
We share limited data with:
-
Service providers (processors): e.g., Shopify (hosting/store), cloud hosting, email providers, analytics, fulfillment and shipping partners—strictly to provide services to us. Shopify
-
Advertising/measurement partners: only where permitted by law and subject to your consent/opt-out choices; partners process data under their own notices too. Shopify
-
Kickstarter & payment processors: to fulfill pledges and rewards; payment data is processed by Kickstarter/Stripe. Kickstarter
-
Corporate events & legal: mergers, acquisition diligence, or to comply with legal obligations, protect rights, and enforce terms.
We don’t sell personal information in the traditional sense. Where “sale”/“sharing” is defined to include cross-context behavioral advertising, you may opt out (see Section 7). Yes on Prop 24
9) International data transfers
We may transfer personal information outside your country (e.g., to the US). When data is transferred from the EEA/UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or other recognized mechanisms, unless the destination is deemed adequate by authorities. European Commission+1
10) Retention
We keep information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here (e.g., running the site, fulfilling rewards, legal/accounting obligations) and then delete or anonymize it, subject to statutory retention requirements.
11) Security
No system is 100% secure, but we apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data. Please use unique, strong passwords and protect your account access. (Remember, pledge payments on Kickstarter are handled by Kickstarter/Stripe.) Kickstarter
12) Children’s privacy
Our Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your country, e.g., 16 in the EU). If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it as required. Federal Trade Commission+1
13) Your rights & choices
Your rights vary by region, but may include:
EEA/UK (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection (including to direct marketing), and withdrawal of consent.
US (state privacy laws like CPRA/CPA/CTDPA/CO, etc.): access/know, correct, delete, portability, and opt out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising; some states provide an appeal process for denied requests. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights. ReutersCalifornia DOJYes on Prop 24
How to exercise: email contact@robotin.com. We’ll verify your request (and, where allowed, honor authorized agents). You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time via the email link.
Global Privacy Control: honored as described above. California DOJ
14) Third-party sites & social features
Our site may link to third-party websites or social media features. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies; please review those before sharing information.
15) Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We’ll post updates here, revise the “Last updated” date, and provide additional notice where required. Shopify
