The honest answer to this question depends entirely on which of three quite different machines you mean, and most price comparisons online are useless because they put all three in one list.

Why washing costs more than vacuuming
It is a fair question why a machine that cleans carpet properly costs more than one that vacuums it, and the answer is not margin.
Pulling water back out of a carpet pile takes far more airflow than lifting dust off it, and doing that repeatedly on battery power is the hard engineering problem in this category. The purchase only makes sense next to what you would otherwise spend, and for carpet there are three realistic alternatives.

Buying your own upright cleaner is the cheapest way to own deep-cleaning capability, and the reason people still do not use it is that it requires pushing. What drives the price up, and what is worth it
- Extraction power. On a washer this is the whole product. Worth paying for.
- A drying stage. Carpet left damp risks mildew within a day or two, so this is not a luxury feature.
- Carpet detection, dry and wet. A vacuum should recognize carpet and boost suction on it. A machine that carries water needs more than that: a wet carpet sensor, so it knows what it is standing on before it puts water down, and knows when the carpet underneath it is dry. - Sensing that closes the loop. Most machines run a set number of passes and stop, whether the carpet is clean or not. One that measures how much soil is in the water coming back, and keeps working an area until that reading drops, is deciding when the job is finished rather than when the timer is. - Anti-tangle brushes. With pets or long hair this saves more time than an extra few thousand Pa ever will.
- What the dock does, which is two different things. On a robot vacuum, a self-emptying dock tips the dustbin into a bag, and that is convenience rather than performance.
